Call for Papers

The 29th Annual Mayo Clinic Symposium on Sports Medicine 2019 is a two-day course that has taken place annually at Mayo Clinic for the past 28 years. This course is designed to provide physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, performance specialists, and other sports medicine professionals with the latest diagnostic and treatment strategies for sports-related and musculoskeletal conditions. It is noteworthy for educational innovations, including live demonstrations of physical examination, anatomy, ultrasonography and arthroscopy.

Target Audience

This course is for physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other medical professionals who evaluate and treat athletes and other active populations.

•Identify and describe management of common causes of buttock and pelvic pain in the athlete

•Identify modifiable risk factors for injuries in young athletes

•Summarize the current and future strategies for cartilage restoration

•Identify clinically relevant foot/ankle anatomy

•Perform a focused physical examination of the foot/ankle

•Identify imaging findings of the athlete with foot/ankle pain

•Describe relevant sonoanatomy in the performance of ultrasound-guided foot/ankle procedures

•Identify and describe sideline management of acute chest and abdominal injuries

•Summarize the most important considerations when caring for adaptive athletes

•Explain the essential components of a power development program

•Summarize the components of a safe and effective strategy for pain management after knee surgery
