Call for Papers

Building on the success on the previous edition, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in Ethiopia in association with AME Trade Ltd, United Kingdom, will organize the second edition of the Ethiopian International Mining Conference & Exhibition (EIMC 2019) at the Hotel Sheraton, Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia has huge potential in a diverse range of mineral resources (gold, gemstones, tantalum, industrial minerals, potash, lithium & rare earths). The government is planning to use the mining sector as a key pillar of Ethiopia’s Growth and Transformation Plan (GTPII) which aims to make Ethiopia a middle-income country by 2025.

It was recently announced that holders of large-scale mining licenses for precious minerals will benefit from a decrease of royalties and more incentives are expected to be unveiled before EIMC takes place.

WHY ATTEND EIMC 2019?
  • Inform stakeholders of the reforms to facilitate investment in the mining sector
  • Identify innovative financing solutions applicable to both large and small-scale mining projects and services
  • Improve both the quality and access to data relating to Ethiopia’s geological infrastructure
  • Diversify Ethiopia’s mining sector analysing new opportunities for mineral exploration and production
  • Create linkages between the mining sector and other sectors to stimulate diverse economic activities.
  • Add value to Ethiopia’s mining production through local transformation
  • Protect the social and natural environment through local content development, good practise and sustainability
