Pharmacovigilance belongs to a part of pharmacoepidemiology that includes continuous monitoring, in a population, for adverse effects and other safety problems arising in drugs that are already available on the market. Pharmacoepidemiology also includes the conduct and evaluation of programmatic efforts in improving medication use on a population basis.

Session on: Ethnopharmacology

Ethnopharmacology concentrates mostly on the use of traditional medicine in local communities, including its commercial applications. The recent inclusion of artemisinin, which is an effective antimalarial is a good example of this as the origin of this compound, Artemisia annua, was used to cure fevers and malaria-like symptoms in traditional Chinese medicine. Ethnopharmacology also refers the philosophical scheme involving medicine practice of any group, since this influences diagnoses and treatment of disease.

Session on: Psychopharmacology

Psychopharmacology is the field that focuses on drug-induced changes in mood, thinking, and behaviour. It basically analyses the impact of different drugs on the mental health of patients. It focusses on how people people’s behaviour and personality can be changed by various compounds. Some of the conditions that are needed to be treated includes depression, psychosis and anxiety.
