Call for Papers

The 2nd International Scientific Conference TOURMAN 2018 themed “In search of excellence in tourism, travel & hospitality” will take place the 25-28 of October 2018 and is hosted and organised by the Alexander Technological Institute of Thessaloniki, a traditional public higher education institution in Greece; the units responsible for the Conference organisation are: a) the Program of Postgraduate Studies in Tourism Management, and b) the Research Laboratory in Tourism & Services Management.

Nothing in today’s chaotic tourism, travel and hospitality environment stays the same long enough… achieving and sustaining success, either in the private or the public sector, is a major challenge for all relevant stakeholders! The search for success through excellence is always with us, and its impacts are of critical importance for tourism, travel and hospitality management and education. Success may generate even more success, both at macro-environmental and micro-environmental level.

Any stakeholder in tourism, travel & hospitality, and any industry practitioner, educator or researcher, is facing vital questions like: • How to prepare for excellence? • How to manage excellence? • How to survive in the future? • How to sustain development and growth? • How to research for the future?

If you are looking for answers to these questions, or if you can share with others your answers, then make sure that you will be in Rhodes island in Greece this October, for the 2nd International Scientific Conference “In search of excellence in tourism, travel and hospitality” (TOURMAN 2018).

About Rhodes island:

The Greek island of Rhodes (or Rodos in Greek) is situated at the crossroads of two major sea routes of the Mediterranean between the Aegean Sea and the coast of the Middle East, as well as Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt. The meeting point of three continents, it has known many civilizations that have left their marks and their cultural traces.

Rhodes is one of the largest and most fertile of the Greek Islands, and because of its combination of impressive beaches, archaeological sites, and extensive medieval town, is one of the most visited. The climate is particularly good, with the weather typically sunny and mild from early March until November.

Rhodes is the Crusader Isle, steeped in ancient history and boasting 300 days of blue skies a year. It lies at the southern end of the Dodecanese island and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean. Rhodes takes in more annual holiday visitors than virtually any other Greek island. The attraction is not just the long summer season and the excellent sandy beaches but also the remarkably well preserved medieval city of Rhodes itself, castles galore courtesy of the Crusaders and a hilly, forested interior with some lovely landscapes, picturesque villages and famous gastronomic attractions.
