Intergroup Dialogue: Pedagogy of Possibilities is the theme for the 3rd Biennial Conference on Intergroup Dialogue on June 7-9, 2019. The Conference will be held at University of Massachusetts-Amherst and is co-sponsored by the University of Massachusetts - Amherst and Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges. The mission of the 3rd Biennial Conference on Intergroup Dialogue is to share knowledge, skills, stories and practices that illustrate how dialogue can be a catalyst for envisioning new possibilities for collaboration and solidarity across differences.
The questions we encourage you to consider as you prepare your proposals include:
• What are new promising practices for INTER-GROUP dialogue and INTRA-GROUP in these polarized times? Inside the classroom? On campus? In Community spaces?
• What are useful methods or practices for creating, building, and/or sustaining hope and healing in dialogues across differences? What are the challenges?
•How are IGD practitioners grappling with questions related to emotional labor, holistic care, intersectionality, free speech or political debates in dialogues across differences?
• What are new best practices or strategies for recruiting and preparing faculty, staff and students in dialogue facilitation methods to build inclusive communities?
• What are we learning from the impact of INTER-GROUP and INTRA-GROUP dialogue within and across race/ethnicity, rank and class, religion and spirituality, sexuality and other social identities for participants, facilitators and the community? What is the related research?
