The University of Wollongong is hosting the 3rd Pronunciation Symposium on 25 November, 2018. This one day symposium is for language teachers, language teacher educators, postgraduate students, program administrators, and researchers interested in pronunciation teaching, learning, and research. The aim of the symposium is to showcase empirical research as well as to present practical and cutting-edge classroom-based sessions relevant to practitioners in various teaching contexts (e.g., ELICOS, TAFE, public/mainstream schooling, and volunteer teaching programs). The symposium features oral presentations, poster presentations, a phonics workshop, a roundtable discussion, teaching tips, and the ALAA opening plenary, featuring Dr William Acton.
We invite proposals for oral and poster presentations on pronunciation teaching, learning, and research. We also invite evidence-based “teaching tip” proposals. Teaching tips will be presented in a Round Robin format, with a small group gathered around the presenter. Every 10 minutes, a bell rings and the audience moves to another teaching tip presentation.
Presentations will be given in English, and the deadline for submissions is April 1, 2018. Review outcome notifications will be sent out at the end of May 2018.
Abstracts need to have a title of no more than 10 words in length, be double-spaced, have no more than 250 words (including references if included), and specify the desired presentation format:
Oral Presentation (25 minutes: 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions)
Poster Presentation (80-minute poster session during lunch)
Teaching Tip (10 minutes in Round Robin format)
Abstracts should be sent to pronsymp2018@gmail.com
