2018’s IPCC special report on global warming of 1.5 degrees C has put the achievement of ‘net zero’ emissions at centre stage for energy policy around the world, but delivering net zero implies nothing less than a social transformation. What are the implications of a net zero society for mobility and transport; for people’s comfort in homes and workplaces; and for industrial production and prosperity? The 2020 BIEE research conference will consider international perspectives and examine the technology, economic, financial and societal challenges for net zero heat, transport and industry.
Academics researchers and energy professionals in the energy policy, industry, financial, analyst, consulting and media communities are invited to submit their proposals for an opportunity to speak in the conference parallel sessions. These can be industry case studies, reports of recent trials, comment on current energy policy, social, economic or finance issues, as well as academic papers aligned to the conference theme. We are seeking submissions for paper and case study presentations, dialogue sessions and PhD student ‘pitches’.
Submissions are welcomed from the economic, social, behavioural and technology research communities, and from energy analysts, researchers, strategy and policy thinkers from all backgrounds.
We will run three parallel streams of six sessions each over the course of the two days.
