The Royal Aeronautical Society and ASI have joined forces to co-organise and host the first ever industry-wide strategic conversation on the global megatrends and their importance to our industry.
Today, few in aviation would argue that the aviation industry does not face significant and potentially disruptive changes in the foreseeable future. The decisions that you take today will create the reality that you will deal with tomorrow. Understanding how the industry might evolve over the next 20 years to 2040 will enable action today to make organisations more resilient and successful.
Megatrends are the global transformative forces changing the entire world, affecting labour, assets and infrastructure, systems and processes, political and corporate structures and even human existence. Multiple megatrends are in play simultaneously: their dynamics and impacts vary significantly across industries and sectors. There are few who are unaware of their growing impact upon the world around us - our interest is specifically on the impact of megatrends on aviation.
This foresight initiative will be guided by NormannPartners, led by Rafael Ramirez. Rafael directs the award-winning Oxford Scenarios Programme and is one of the world’s leading experts on scenario planning. Rafael was Tenured Professor of Management in HEC-Paris until 2009, Visiting Professor of Scenarios and Corporate Strategy at Shell International from 2000 to 2003, and Chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Strategic Foresight from 2008 to 2010.
The objective of the Global Megatrends and Aviation Forum is to bring the brains and experience of aviation executives together to develop a plausible investigation of these potentially disruptive trends and to co-create a shared vision of the future. Participants will leave this challenging forum with knowledge of the risks and opportunities we are likely to face in the coming two decades, and with a useable understanding of the potential domain and timeline for action.
