Call for Papers

For the first time we will be running a half day of tutorials presented by recognised simulation and training experts and designed to be your annual catch up with what is going on and what you need to know in the world of flight simulation. Spread across 2 tracks, you will be able to be briefed on an introduction to flight simulation past & present, technology trends including the impact of gaming and VR/AR, validation and qualification of simulators, understanding objective motion testing and recent and upcoming regulatory changes. However if there is something you want to know that you think we should include please suggest additional topics. The introductory track will serve as a primer for some of the content of the conference itself. The conference proper will begin after lunch on 12th June 2018 and run over one and half days and will in part be a follow up to the workshops held in last years conference “Striving for Effectiveness in Flight Simulation” . 

Please submit an abstract on one of the following topics :-

• New developments in training technology and practice including the role of Big Data in analysing and individualising training performance. 
• Experience of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) in practice. 
• Looking at how we can improve training device capabilities and qualification to better enable competency based training. What do you wish you had on your sim and what “features” do you wish you did not have! 
• How to reduce Flight Test hours by increased use of Flight simulation without compromising effectiveness
• How can we define objective measures of training effectiveness 
• Fidelity improvement challenges

Instructions to Authors

The Organising Committee invites prospective authors to submit abstracts of original work for presentations at the conference.

Abstracts should be written in English and contain between 100 - 150 words, preferably in electronic format or typed double spaced on A4 or 8x12 inch paper. Authors should submit their abstracts in electronic format only by Wednesday 31 January. 

Selection will be made on the abstract content and applicability to the final published programme requirements. 

Accepted scripts and presentations, fully cleared for publication and presentation should be submitted by Friday 16 March. 

N.B. Papers are preferred but are not mandatory. All written papers will be included in the conference proceedings and made available to delegates online. Accepted papers may also be considered for inclusion in the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Aeronautical Journal, subject to the refereeing process. It is important to note that all presentations and papers should not have been published previously and should avoid inappropriate sales and or marketing content.
