The annual Sustainable Investment Forum North America – held in partnership with the UNEP Finance Initiative – will return for its 4th edition on September 25, 2019 during Climate Week NYC.
The Sustainable Investment Forum North America will return for its 4th edition on the 25 September in Times Square New York. Organised by Climate Action and held in partnership with The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI), the forum has again been given official affiliate event status from Climate Week New York and will be the largest leading finance focused event during this key summit, focused entirely on driving climate change forward.
This year the forum will be taking place just two days after the UN Climate Action Summit, which will accelerate actions among countries, companies, cities and civil society required to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, led by UN Secretary – General António Guterres. This year the UN Secretary-General is calling on all leaders to come to New York with concrete, realistic plans to enhance their nationally determined contributions by 2020, in line with reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% over the next decade, and to net zero emissions by 2050.
The Sustainable Investment Forum North America will gather over 350 global attendees representing asset owners and managers, insurers, investors, banks, development banks, policymakers, think tanks and NGOs to discuss the next steps to accelerate the growth of green finance and responsible investment.
Given the established history and reputation of the Sustainable Investment Forum, bringing together asset owners with more than USD $3 trillion in assets under management and the importance that the UN Climate Action Summit is placing on sustainable finance, Climate Action and UNEP Finance Initiative presents the forthcoming Sustainable Investment Forum North America as the number one meeting point for the finance community to come together during Climate Week New York.
