About SGSNorfolk2020

The Southern Gerontological Society's 41st annual regional aging conference will be held at the beautiful Norfolk The Main in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia. “Aging Better Together: Building an Inclusive Aging Community” will focus on best practices to aid in building an environment and society where every aging person can thrive by being able to engage in meaningful activities for themselves and for those who care for them. The expertise of of our diverse group of presenters will share applied best practices and the most up to date research on fostering a diverse and inclusive aging community.

Call for Papers

The SGS Call for Papers will be available from August 2, 2019 until November 1, 2019. A late breaker poster presentation portal will be open from November 25, 2019 through February 14, 2020. Session types include best practices discussions, demonstrative workshops (tools and techniques), academic papers and posters, and panel symposium.  This conference invites presentation on the following domains: (1) Health and Wellness, (2) Environment & Location, (3) Diversity Topics in Aging Communities, (4) Caregiving, Care Support, and Care Partnerships, (5) Gerontological Education and Professional Development, and (6) Advocacy for or by Older Adults. The SGS conference welcomes students, applied practitioners, academicians, and researchers to submit their work for consideration for this year's conference. Presentations which enhance cross-discipline collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement are strongly encouraged as SGS's key mission is to bridge the gaps between gerontological research and practice.
