Saskatoon, home to two of the world’s largest uranium producers, is the host city for the decennial 4th International Conference on Uranium organized by MetSoc.
The Conference will mark the 4th edition of the Uranium Conference in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and will welcome delegates and executives from around the globe. Invited speakers will be included in the programming to offer expert views in the field. Programming will feature:
Uranium processing, refining and conversion; these will include updates on existing operations and descriptions of developing projects: uranium, thorium and other nuclear fuels
Innovation in fuel fabrication and fuel for SMRs (small modular reactors)
By-products or co-products from uranium ore processing
CO2 emissions, environmental protection and regulatory issues
Business and economic aspects of uranium extraction and utilization
Uranium geology (exploration techniques, geochemistry, ore deposits and mineralogy)
Uranium production (uranium mining technologies and methodologies, heap and stope leaching)
Uranium mining and milling waste management (decommissioning, remediation and long-term monitoring, tailings and waste rock management)
Innovations in nuclear medicine and materials research with nuclear methods
Practices for respectful conversations about nuclear technology
Short Course:
The conference will also offer a short course on Uranium Processing
Industrial Tours:
Athabasca Basin operating site tours and in-Saskatoon facility tours will be offered.
Operating tours will include Cameco- Cigar Lake and Orano-McClean Lake.
In-Saskatoon facility tours will include Canadian Light Source, and Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences, SNC soil lab
Other activities
The conference will feature a small but focused trade show, poster session and social events such as a banquet.
