Call for Papers

The World Non-Formal Education Forum taking place in Rio de Janeiro aims to contribute to the global debate on non-formal education in societies and institutions as a force to empower young people to contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

This first of its kind event of leading non-formal education practitioners, academics and partners from around the world aims to address the following questions:

• How can non-formal education be more effective as a force to empower young people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
• What skills do young people need now and for the future to contribute to sustainable development and become more active as global citizens?
• How can societies and institutions leverage the power and energy of youth leadership as a critical force to help achieve the SDGs?

The organisers of the Forum now invite practitioners, professionals and policy makers from the Scout Movement, academia and the non-formal education community to submit abstracts and proposals for their papers around these topics.

During the Forum selected papers may be presented in 15-minute sessions followed by a short discussion. All accepted papers will be published on the Forum’s website.
