Gender

We are a group of students of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) who organizes the first annual international students’ conference that will be held at JGU. The conference is open to all university students worldwide. We searched for a topic which resonates with all students, facilitates interdisciplinary discussions, and encompasses existential concerns, as well as current and future challenges. That’s why we decided on “Bounds of Humanity”. Are there bounds for humankind and humanity? What are the limits of responsibility? Can we overcome mental, political, and social boundaries?

The conference seeks to explore the past and current status of men and women around the world, to examine the ways in which society is shaped by gender and to situate gender in relation to the full scope of human affairs.

The International Gender and Sexuality Studies Conference is hosted by the Women’s Research Center and the BGLTQ+ Student Center at the University of Central Oklahoma. “The Center” promotes intellectual engagement with Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality issues.

We are pleased to invite all to the '2nd International Conference on Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies' which will take place during June 18-19, 2018 at Rome, Italy.

Works of art speak truths about war and conflict in a way that cannot be easily articulated by disciplines such as law or political science. As a result, scholars in these disciplines are increasingly paying attention to art made during conflict as well as the ‘work’ which art does in its aftermath. There is a need, however, to foster cross-disciplinary conversation about the methods and approaches undertaken by scholarship in this area. This two-day workshop is a series of events aimed at beginning a dialogue around these issues by PhD Candidates and Early Career Researchers.

The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) at Curtin University, together with the Economics Society of Australia’s Women in Economics Network (WEN) are pleased to announce the Australian Gender Economics Workshop. While substantial progress toward gender equity has been made over the past decades, key gaps in various life aspects relating to family, education, employment, wealth, security, voice and agency remain. There is a need for new insights to better understand the role and impact of gender on all economic and social domains, and to translate these insights into actions. The workshop aims to help fill this gap.

We invite doctoral and early career researchers to present on themes of identity, belonging and activism at a one-day event. Our keynote speakers include Professor Anne-Marie Fortier (Lancaster) and Dr Elisabetta Zontini (Nottingham). The Enquire Conference is organised by postgraduate research students from the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the university and draws in participants from across the country. With this year’s theme, we aim to explore links between identity, lived experiences of belonging to local and global communities, and the structural barriers that may make inclusion difficult, particularly for marginalised groups.

THIS CONFERENCE OFFERS A PLATFORM FOR: >> Discussion relating to the current status of women, with a special focus on the following categories that constitute potential challenges to gender equality and women’s rights. >>International researchers and scientists from academia, industry and government to present their studies to a multi-disciplinary audience, exchange experiences, discuss proposals, and disseminate results on women’s and gender studies.

International Perspectives in Education conference theme is Education and Equality and we look forward to receiving proposals on the diverse nature of education, including aspects such as: ethnicity, gender, class, disability, religion, culture. The conference offers an international and clearly interdisciplinary stage for presenters and participants from all around the world. We are hoping to host practitioners and researchers from diverse backgrounds and provide a space for debate, reflection and the exchange of experience and good practice in education through new developments, technologies and approaches.

The aim of the third edition of The Left Conference, Photography and Film Criticism is to debate the use of photographs and film from a leftist stance. In particular, to critical examine and explore the relation of documentary practices with political commitment in different historical circumstances throughout the twentieth century and the early twenty first century. The seminar/conference together will take place at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidade de Lisboa on the 9th and 10th November 2018.
