The Aberystwyth University Early Modern Conference is a postgraduate led initiative run in conjunction with the Aberystwyth Medieval Conference to provide a friendly and supportive space for postgraduates and early career researchers. We aim to enable delegates and speakers the opportunity to network and gain valuable experience in giving papers.

The prison, as a form of punishment, means of control, formidable employer, and site of creativity, is the focus of this inclusive interdisciplinary conference. We are seeking academic, artistic, activist, and professional perspectives on the prison experience, and especially welcome contributions from former prisoners, detainees, incarcerated asylum seekers, or others who have personal experience with prison systems.
